Imjin Barracks SLA
Gloucestershire, UK
The British Army is using KNX for its Single Living Accommodation (SLA) barracks in Gloucestershire, UK. It’s the first of over 100 new SLA buildings to be completed transforming the living experience. The three-storey building compromises 69 single and suite bedrooms, communal living and dining facilities, kitchens, drying rooms and utility rooms. The completion of the new £13m building is part of a wider £1.2bn investment in the Army’s SLA Programme, which aims to improve the living conditions of soldiers. The Building Automation and Controls System at Imjin Barracks SLA, complies with Class A (BS EN ISO 52120) and has achieved over 95% in the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) making it one of the most advanced buildings in Europe for smart building control.
By using KNX technology, the building can be controlled and monitored to improve occupants experience and provide actionable insights that optimise energy and maintenance.
The Switch Actuators AMI with current measurement from MDT was a key product of the solution and allowed to monitor every lighting and small power circuit of the building. The solution uses cognitive building techniques to influence user behaviour and reduce energy consumption through real-time data displays and gamification.
